All users of the Medwise service (“you” etc), must follow the rules in these Platform Terms of Use (the “terms”) on how to act on the Medwise service in compliance with the law and guidance on online safety.

THE MEDWISE PLATFORM INVOLVES INTERACTING WITH AN AI INTERFACE AND RECOMMENDER SYSTEM. GOOD AI GOVERNANCE MEANS THAT WE TELL YOU THIS EXPRESSLY (EVEN THOUGH IT MAY BE OBVIOUS WHEN INTERACTING WITH MEDWISE).
ALTHOUGH THE MEDWISE PLATFORM INVOLVES AI AND AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING WHEN RETURNING SEARCH RESULTS AND GENERATING RESPONSES, IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DECISIONS ABOUT PEOPLE WITH LEGAL OR SIMILARLY-SIGNIFICANT EFFECTS. MEDWISE PROVIDES INFORMATION TO SUPPORT HUMAN DECISIONS AND IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR HUMAN DECISION MAKING. PLEASE SEE THE SECTION “Do not rely on content on the Platform” BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS.
These terms tell you what is permitted and prohibited while using the Medwise platform (our “Platform”) and apply to all users, whether you access the Platform on a mobile device, via a webapp or any other method of access.
These terms include information on how we protect users from harmful or illegal content.
These terms are separate from and in addition to the formal subscription agreement (which may include a paid subscription option) which may be required to access the Platform in certain circumstances. The provisions of that agreement can be found at .

We amend these terms from time to time at our discretion. Please check these terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at the time of use. These terms were most recently updated on 8th April, 2025.
We may update and change our Platform from time to time to reflect changes to our offerings, our users' needs and our business priorities.
We do not guarantee that our Platform, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. We may suspend or withdraw or restrict the availability of all or any part of our Platform (whether generally or for specific users or categories of users) for business and operational reasons at our discretion. We will try to give you reasonable notice of any suspension or withdrawal.
You are also responsible for ensuring that you are the only person who accesses the Platform via your connection or credentials.
If you provide, choose, or you are provided with, a user identification code, password, single sign on, login details, access credentials or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential. You must not disclose it to any third party.
We have the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our reasonable opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these terms of use.

We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our Platform. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
You must not conduct, facilitate, authorise or permit any text or data mining or web scraping in relation to our Platform or any services provided via, or in relation to, our Platform for any purpose. This includes using (or permitting, authorising or attempting the use of):
The provisions in this clause should be treated as an express reservation of our rights in this regard, including for the purposes of Article 4(3) of the Digital Copyright Directive ((EU) 2019/790).
You shall not use, and we do not consent to the use of, our Platform, or any data published by, or contained in, or accessible via, our Platform or any services provided via, or in relation to, our Platform for the purposes of developing, training, fine-tuning or validating any AI system or model or for any other purposes not explicitly set out in the agreements that govern your use of the Platform.
This clause will not apply insofar as (but only to the extent that) we are unable to exclude or limit text or data mining or web scraping activity by contract under the laws which are applicable to us.
Whenever you make use of a feature that allows you to create content directly on our Platform, query the Platform or upload or share content to our Platform, or to make contact with other users of our Platform, you must comply with the standards set out below under Acceptable Use.
You warrant that any such contribution complies with those standards, and you are liable to us and indemnify us for any breach of that warranty. This means you will be responsible for any loss or damage we suffer as a result of your breach of warranty.
We will consider any content you upload to our Platform to be non-confidential and not protected by any trade mark, patent or copyright ("non-proprietary"), that is, in the public domain. You own your content, but you are required to grant us a limited licence to use, store and copy that content for the purposes of the Platform’s functionality.
You must not upload to the Platform any information whatsoever relating to an identified or identifiable living person (known in data protection law as “Personal Data”) or any information that is confidential, privileged, proprietary or otherwise sensitive.
We also have the right to disclose your identity to anyone who is claiming that any content posted or uploaded by you to our Platform violates their intellectual property rights or their right to privacy.
We have the right to remove any posting you make on our Platform if, in our opinion, your post does not comply with the acceptable use standards set below.
If you wish to contact us in relation to content you have uploaded to our Platform and that we have taken down, please contact us via the in-Platform functionality.
You own any content you upload to our Platform. We do not make any claim to ownership of that material. If you upload or post content (User-Generated Content) to our Platform, you grant us the following rights to use that content:
Our Platform may include information and materials uploaded by other users. This information and these materials have not been verified or approved by us. The views expressed by other users on our Platform do not represent our views or values. We are not responsible for the accuracy of user-generated content on the Platform.

The content on our Platform is provided for the testing of experimental and novel technology, general information, and research purposes only. It is not intended to amount to formal advice (including medical advice) on which you should rely.
The Platform is not a regulated medical device.
The Platform makes use of experimental and novel technologies, including AI. AI can make mistakes. The Platform provides information to support human decisions, and is not intended to replace human decision making. All outputs from the Platform should be verified independently.
The Platform is not intended to diagnose or treat any health condition, or substitute for the clinical assessment and judgment of a healthcare professional.
Although we make reasonable efforts to keep the Platform up to date, we make no representations, warranties or guarantees, whether express or implied, that the content on our Platform is accurate, complete, up to date, or that the Platform is suitable for any particular use. The Platform is provided on an as-is basis. As set out in more detail below, we are not responsible for content accessible via the Platform but from third party websites or other third party sources.
The Platform is intended for use by healthcare professionals in the United Kingdom only. Please do not use the Platform if you are located elsewhere. We make no representations that the Platform is suitable for use in, or legally compliant with the rules of, any other location or jurisdiction. All users are responsible for ensuring their compliance with legal and professional regulation applicable to their practice and making sure that their use of the Platform is professional and lawful. We do not make any representations in this regard.
The Platform is intended for use by individual healthcare professionals and permission to use it is granted to individual clinicians in that capacity and not to any body corporate, trust, institution or other association, whether or not having separate legal personality.
The content on our Platform is intended and provided for use by healthcare professionals only. Access to and use of the Platform by private individuals or consumers in that capacity is prohibited. Access and use by minors (those under the age of 18) is prohibited. If you need healthcare advice in your private or family capacity you should seek qualified medical support from a qualified natural person (not an artificial intelligence tool) and when necessary contact emergency services or go to A&E.

Use limits apply to the Platform and paid subscriptions may be required
We reserve the right to set limits on access to the Platform, and require a subscription for use levels above certain thresholds or based on any other criteria we decide. We may charge a fee for such a subscription.
If you are accessing the Platform on an open access, free of charge basis, subject to your compliance with these terms and the other documents referred to in them, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Platform in your capacity as an individual healthcare professional for use as a research and experimental tool (only) as set out above.
If you are accessing the Platform via a subscription, the above does not apply to you and the details of the licence we grant you are found in the terms and conditions of your subscription agreement.
You are liable to us for and indemnify us against any alleged or actual loss, liability, expense or claim whatsoever, that we are subject to consequent on any non-compliance by you with these terms. Your liability under this indemnity is uncapped and not subject to any exclusions of heads of loss.
This means that you are responsible to us for any damage or loss we suffer (including for example our legal and administration costs, and costs relating to an alleged but not successful claim) as a result of you breaching these terms or using the Platform other than in accordance with them. There is no limit on the sum you could be required to pay to cover our losses if you breach these terms.
Where our Platform contains links to other apps and resources provided by third parties, these links are provided for your information only. Such links should not be interpreted as approval by us of those linked websites or information you may obtain from them.
We have no control over the contents of those apps or resources.
We do not guarantee that our Platform will be secure or free from bugs or viruses.
You are responsible for configuring your information technology, computer programs and platform to access our Platform. You should use your own virus protection software.
You must not misuse our Platform by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful, or otherwise harmfully interacting with our Platform or any part of it. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our Platform, the server on which our Platform is stored or any server, computer or database connected to our Platform or any other equipment or network connected with our Platform. You must not interfere with, damage or disrupt any software used in the provision of our Platform or any equipment or network or software owned or used by any third party on which this Platform relies in any way. You must not attack our Platform via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of-service attack. By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and we will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them. In the event of such a breach, your right to use our Platform will cease immediately.
References to “liability” in this section of the terms include every kind of liability arising under or in connection with your use of the Platform including but not limited to liability in contract, tort (including negligence), misrepresentation, restitution or otherwise.
We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

These terms of use, their subject matter and their formation (and any non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by English law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

You must comply with these standards in spirit as well as to the letter.
We will determine, in our discretion, whether any User-Generated Content or your use of our Platform breaches these acceptable use standards.

We minimise the length of time for which terrorism content is present on the Platform by complying with the procedures outlined in our Risk Assessment. We will swiftly take down terrorism content when we find out about it.
We will minimise the length of time for which child sexual exploitation and abuse content is present on the Platform by complying with the procedures outlined in our Risk Assessment. We will swiftly take down child sexual exploitation and abuse content when we find out about it.
We will minimise the length of time for which other content that amounts to an offence is present on the Platform by complying with the procedures outlined in our Risk Assessment. This applies to content relating to assisting suicide, threats to kill, public order offences, harassment, stalking and fear or provocation of violence, drugs and psychoactive substances, firearms and other weapons, assisting illegal immigration, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, sexual images, proceeds of crime, fraud, financial services, foreign interference, animal welfare and offences relating to being involved in committing any of these offences (known as inchoate offences). We will swiftly take down such content when we find out about it.
